Family was the most important thing in Betty’s life and the 58 year marriage to her cherished husband, Harold, and their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren are a testament to her boundless love and care.
Betty enjoyed being a member of the wonderful Granger United Methodist Church and Granger Community for almost 60 years, and faithfully served in more capacities than can be listed. She was instrumental in the planning and organization of the beautiful church library and influenced many with her life long love of books and reading. Piano and the bell choir gave her great joy and provided a lasting memory and model for her grandchildren and their own joy of music.
An avid sports enthusiast, Betty played golf, volleyball, and bowled for decades. However, her most notable sports accomplishment was the total commitment to attending every sporting event of all of her grandchildren. This created a bond and promoted a tie that each of them can carry through a lifetime.
A talented bridge player, Betty spent many hours playing with a variety of groups enjoying the camaraderie of many dear friends. Her unique gift of making every event a celebration of food, happiness, love, and life will be forever cherished. These loving memories are, and always will be, a living testament to a love that knows no time or boundaries.
Betty was the beloved wife of Harold; loving mother of Chet (Jan) Simmons, David (Mary) Simmons, and Kent (Margaret) Simmons; her adoring grandchildren include Jay (Katie) Simmons, Whitney (Zach) Harkavy, Quinn (Jamie) Behler, Mason Simmons, Matt O’Donnell, Maggie (Jerry) Pettry, Michael, Elizabeth, and John Simmons, and her two most recent devotees, Stella and Sloane Harkavy; she was the ever loved and mischievous sister to Jack, Bill, Bob (Loretta), Tom (Judy), and Zeke Arters, and Helen Streett, Mary Norton, Dorothy Jean Cutler; sister-in-law, Audrey Arters; and a large number of dearly loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Albert, Dick, and sister, Martha.
