Eleanor Y. Boda, 96, formerly of Chatham, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Plum Creek Retirement Center in Brunswick. She was born July 18, 1916 in Cleveland, to George and Anna (Klooz) Walters.
She grew up in the Cleveland/Parma area and married John Boda on April 20, 1939. They moved to Medina County in 1955, where she worked as a cook for the Pythian Home in Medina for 20 years, and later retired from the Lodi Community Hospital as cook, where she had worked for 20 years as well.
She had been a member of the Chatham Grange and the West Salem 50+ Club. She enjoyed traveling and earlier years at the Chippewa Lake Park Ballroom.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Glenn) Fish of Lodi; two grandchildren, Russell (Jennifer) Fish of Delaware, Ohio, Nancy (Charles) Eaken of Lodi; two great granddaughters, Kimberly and Lauren Eaken; and two foster grandchildren, Tasia and Jacob.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and brother, George Walters.
Funeral service will be held Monday, March 18, 2013, at 1 P.M., at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi (330-948-1122). Reverend Donald Kuntz will officiate. Burial will follow at Chatham Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:30 A.M., until 1 P.M., prior to the service at the funeral home.
