Cahalan picked for Medina school board

MEDINA — Thomas Cahalan has been named by the Medina Board of Education to fill the seat vacated by the retirement last month of Dr. Robert Wilder.

Cahalan, a 21-year resident of the district, is a personal trainer, working out of the Medina Community Recreation Center. He holds a master of science in management and a bachelor of science in biology from Purdue University.

The board picked Cahalan after interviewing 13 candidates Friday and Saturday.

“Mr. Cahalan was selected because he evidenced many traits we find necessary for board service: independent thinking, a calling to serve the community, high integrity, and personal experience relevant to the kinds of decision-making that boards face,” according to a news release issued by the school board.

Cahalan will be officially sworn in at our next public meeting on March 27th, 2013 at 6pm at the Medina High School Distance Learning Lab.

The key word here being, integrity. Thank you Tom for stepping up to the plate during this difficult time.

  • Stepp and the board must go

All that education and employed as a personal trainer. Gee, he will fit right in with this Board. No wonder he was selected over many much more qualified candidates. Congrats.

Thomas, why do you think “everyone enjoys conflict and getting fired up?” I have asked a lot of people and nobody is enjoying this. People are sick over this. I am recovering from surgery #7 to repair damage done by a wadsworth gyn when he severed my artery 8 years ago during a laparoscopy. I will never be well and this situation is discusting and not helping me at all, especially since I have ALWAYS voted for the levy..not now.
