He served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, during Grenada and was a member of the VFW Post in Brunswick. John played the drums since the age of four and was a member of two bands, Bangkok Train Wreck and Scratch Cut, and he loved to write and record his own music. He was a member of Grace Church in Bath and enjoyed riding his Harley.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Toni M. (Grant) Makse; loving children, John Theodore “JT” Makse, Jr., Shaun Douglas (Katie) and Wesley Jamez Makse, and stepchildren, Shane Esaly and Justin Bretz; mother, Marcella Shaw; father, Theodore (Karen “Sue”) Makse; sisters, Pattrisha Howell-Fowler, Dora Ann Makse and Rhonda (Jim) Parmertor; brother, James “Bub” Makse; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 25, 2013, from 4 until 8 P.M., at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Funeral service will be 11 A.M., Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina.
