This information about area veterans whose names appear on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was drawn from several sources by The Gazette.

Those veterans who listed home addresses from Medina and Wayne counties were found in a database compiled from government casualty records (the Combat Area Casualties Current File, version of November 1993) by Tom Holloway of Emory University and posted in a searchable form on the Internet by Chris Shepard.

Names of veterans who had local connections but moved away were obtained from lists compiled by various local groups and agencies, including local chapters of the Vietnam Veterans of America and the United Vietnam Veterans of Western Stark County.

The official source for the Wall is the 763-page Directory of Names published by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund Inc., which maintains a searchable website at www.thevirtualwall.org.
