WADSWORTH — Outgoing Wadsworth Schools’ Superintendent Dale R. Fortner has landed a job as vice president of a Medina refrigerated foods company.
Sandridge Food Corp., 133 Commerce Drive, announced Tuesday that Fortner has been named vice president of human resources.
In his new position, Fortner will help develop the company by ensuring it has the people with the proper skills and resources to succeed, according to a news release.
“It is the appropriate time in my career for new challenges,” Fortner said, “and I’m excited to join the Sandridge team.”
Fortner, 53, announced in February that he was leaving the school district, effective June 30.
He has been Wadsworth’s’ superintendent since 2001. He also has been a teacher and principal since 1982.
Fortner holds a doctorate in education administration from Walden University, a master’s in secondary administration from the University of Akron and a bachelor’s in English from the College of Wooster.
Mark D. Sandridge, CEO of the company, said he expects great things of Fortner.
“Fortner’s depth of education, organizational leadership and track record for success,” Sandridge said, “are exactly what SFC needs to sustain growth as we enter our third generation of family leadership.”
A recent expansion at Sandridge Food grew the facility to 200,000 square feet and to more than 500 employees.
