This weekend, members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 202 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Unit will sell crepe-paper poppies at various locations around Medina.
The funds collected will be used to help veterans’ families at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
“None of the money leaves the community,” said Patti Randolph, president of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 202.
Last week, Mayor Dennis Hanwell issued a proclamation designating May 18 as “Poppy Day.”
Today, the poppies will be sold 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hawkins Market, 233 Lafayette Road, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Walmart, 4141 Pearl Road, Medina Township.
On Saturday, they will be at Hawkins Market 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Main Street Cafe, 17 Public Square, as well as 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at North Court Beverage, 998 N. North Court St.
