Robert Montgomery Hammond, 76, of Grafton, formerly of Brunswick, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 16, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born January 28, 1937, to the late William and Cora (nee Hardesty) Hammond in Red Jacket, West Virginia.
Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Rushmore. He retired as a scarfer for LTV Steel after 30 years. Bob loved spending his free time at family gatherings, as well as camping and fishing.
He will be missed by his beloved wife of 58 years, Phyllis (nee Mitchem); loving children, Ken (Virginia) Hammond, Lynn (Glenn, deceased) Paulovich, Billy (Joyce) Hammond, Brenda (Scott) Litman, Bob Jr. (Margie) Hammond and David (Lynnette) Hammond; eight treasured grandchildren; nine cherished great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Sandy Michaels and Carolyn Lecco; brothers, Conrad and Jerry Hammond; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack, Sonny and Charlie Hammond.
Memorial visitation will take place Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick. Memorial Service will follow at 7 P.M. in the funeral home. Private burial will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
