Alice M. McDonald

Alice M. McDonald, 79, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, in Medina. She was born January 24, 1934 in Manhattan, New York, to the late John and Alice (Walker) Lyman.

Alice was a former social worker in New York City, and also worked at the Chase Manhattan Bank and the May Company. She was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Church, where she was involved in the Seniors Club. Alice was the past president of the Falling Oaks Homeowners Association and Swim Club and a Club Scout Den Leader, Girl Scout Leader in New Jersey and Ohio, and member of American Legion Post #202 Auxiliary.

Alice was the beloved wife of Louis, to whom she was married 55 years; loving mother of Eileen (Keith) Moehle of Valley City, James McDonald of Medina; and Dr. John (Kathy) McDonald of Germantown, Maryland; dear grandmother of Jeannine (Mike) Letner, Stephanie Moehle (fiance Tom), Daniel Moehle, Patricia Moehle, James McDonald II, Shannon McDonald, and Ian McDonald; great grandmother of Alexis, Jordan and Reilee Letner; and sister-in-law of Mary Catherine Shovelski of Norcross, Georgia. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice McDonald.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 23, 2013, 11 A.M., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina. Father Tony Sejba will be the Celebrant. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 22, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M., at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Burial will be held Friday, May 24, 2013, at 12:45 P.M., at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Please meet at the front gate at 12:30 P.M.
