MEDINA — Vandals have spray-painted buildings and business signs southwest of Public Square.

Police reported graffiti on six buildings on West Washington Street, Lafayette Road and South Court Street.

Most of the paintings were in blue and read “DARE” or “DMC.”

Police said the graffiti is not believed to be gang affiliated.

“One theory we are kicking around is that it is being done on a dare,” Lt. David Birckbichler said.

Birckbichler said several cases of graffiti vandalism in a short period of time are uncommon in Medina, with such incidents happening once every couple years.

Police have increased patrols in the area and are keeping an eye out for any suspicious activity.
