Second-half real-estate tax bills in mail

MEDINA — The Medina County Treasurer’s Office will mail the last of more than 80,000 bills for second-half 2012 real-estate taxes today.

The deadline for payment is July 12, Treasurer John Burke said. Payments sent by mail must be post-marked by that date to avoid a penalty.

Payments also can be made in person at the treasurer’s office, Medina County Administration Building, 144 N. Broadway St., 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The office will stay open until 6 p.m. July 12. Payments also can be deposited in 24-hour, secure drop-boxes outside the treasurer’s office, Brunswick City Hall, and Wadsworth City Hall.

Residents also may use the treasurer’s website for on-line payments by logging onto and clicking “accept.”

Residents then may look up taxes and use a credit card, PayPal account or e-check (direct debit from checking account).

The website also allows residents to verify bank payments for escrowed taxes, enroll in the PrePay Tax Program or check for unclaimed funds.
