Wilbur B. (Woody) Wood, 89, of Lodi, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Life Care Center of Medina, with his family at his side. He was born October 21, 1923, in Chatham, to Chester and Bertha (McMillian) Wood.
He grew up in the Chatham and Lodi area, where he attended both schools, graduating from Chatham High School.
He proudly served with the U.S. Navy during WWII, and later worked for Parker Funeral Home and Furniture Store in Lodi. He became the first mail carrier in Lodi, working in that capacity for the Lodi Post Office, for over 30 years.
He was a member of the Lodi United Methodist Church, Lodi American Legion, Chatham VFW, and Lodi IOOF Lodge. He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians, and also the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Surviving are his daughters, Pam (Curt) Warner of Lodi, Linda (Dan) Johnson of Lodi, Lorie (Doug) Maynard of Lodi;
grandchildren, Todd (Chris) Rickel, Scott (Alice) Rickel, Jamee Dudsak, Brendan Maynard, Brandon Maynard, Missy Johnson, Matt, Todd and Kristen Warner; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
We love you Dad, and you will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna in 2012, to whom he was married to for 65 years; his sisters, Maxine and Katherine (Katie); brother, Dean; and twin brother, Wilfred.
The family would like to thank Doctors German Neri and S.K. Jain, neighbors and friends, Len and Lucy Decker, and staffs of Life Care Center and Hospice of Medina County.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lodi. A celebration of Woody and Donna’s lives will be held at a later date.
