Injuries reported in crash on state Route 18

SHARON, GRANGER TWPS. — A two-vehicle crash on state Route 18 between Interstate 71 and Ridge Road this morning closed a portion of the road and sent victims to hospitals in ambulances and helicopters, according to the State Highway Patrol.

Troopers closed Route 18 for about two hours this morning following the crash, which happened about 5:30 a.m. at state Route 18 and Beach Road, according to a dispatcher at the Medina post of the State Highway Patrol.

Medical helicopters and ambulances were dispatched to the scene. A dispatcher said one car was on fire and there may be an entrapment.

Troopers opened one lane of the road about 7:15 a.m. By 8:30 a.m., the road had been cleared and opened.

Route 18 travels along the border of Sharon and Granger townships.
