Fireworks and other fun for the Fourth

The Medina Community Recreation Center will kick off the city’s Independence Day celebration with the ninth annual Fireworks Festival on July 3.

Festivities begin at 4 p.m. with live entertainment by Stage 1 Teen Music Campus.

Bands expected to perform include Day Method, Nine Point High, Love Like Violence, Minds Without Purpose, Variety Theater and The Redeemed.

Children can play on inflatables and enjoy balloon art, face-painting, carnival games and festival foods.

The recreation center also is offering a special admission price of $3 per person after 5 p.m., which includes use of the center’s swimming pools until 9 p.m. A photo ID is required to use the recreation center, which features a state-of-the-art fitness room, four full-sized basketball courts, an indoor track, an indoor competition pool and indoor leisure pool with a 129-foot water slide and spray features.

Medina’s fireworks display begins at dusk on the adjacent grounds of Medina High School.
