At the age of 15, as the depression weakened the economy, he and his family moved to Spencer in search of farm living. At Spencer High School, John met and subsequently married Doris Marie Rook, his beloved wife of 67 years. John and Doris established themselves as well known and involved Spencerites. As Doris stayed home and raised their two sons, John worked hard and rose through the ranks of Spencer Manufacturing to become a co-owner.
Retired in 1978, John and Doris enjoyed their retirement years travelling extensively; spending their summers at their beautiful home on Lovers’ Lane and their winters at their home in Eustis, Florida. Retirement also gave John the opportunity to pursue his love of golf with a passion, both in Florida and here in Ohio, where John was a longstanding member of Westfield Country Club. Remarkably, John and Doris lived to see all the high school graduations, university graduations and marriages of their four beautiful grandchildren, Jennifer, Meredith, Alison, and Jeffrey.
A loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather, John will be sorely missed.
John is survived by his sons, John R. Nagy (Kathryn Donnelly) of Key Biscayne, Florida, Philip Nagy (Karen, nee Owen) of North Olmsted; grandchildren, Jennifer Cicero (Greg) of Shaker Heights, Meredith Nagy (Nelson Shuff) of Centerburg, Ohio, Alison Kilmartin (Tim) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Jeffrey Nagy (Rebecca) of Rocky River; John is also survived by four great grandchildren, Cameron and Lindsey Cicero, Noah Nagy and Kathryn Anna Kilmartin.
Funeral arrangements and interment will be private.
