Arlene Claire Cowling Fetzer

Arlene Claire Cowling Fetzer, 91, of Medina, loving wife of John Fetzer, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 18, 2013. She was born on September 13, 1921 in Cleveland, daughter of the late Clara and Adolf Hejduk.

Arlene lived most of her life in Medina. After graduating from high school, she helped manage the Willard B. Cowling Feed Grinding Business, was an avid bowler and had a passion for crossword puzzles.

Most importantly, Arlene loved her time with family. Up until the age of 90, she traveled annually to Connecticut to celebrate the holidays with her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arlene enjoyed spending most of her time in the kitchen, cooking and baking. She could not go to a church event, friend’s home or family gathering without bringing a delicious homemade dish, cookies or scrumptious pie. Her gardening and canning skills were to be admired by friends and family. She appreciated the outdoors and took pleasure in watching the birds out of her kitchen window. She was an active member of Poe United Methodist church.

She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, John Fetzer of Medina; cherished grandsons, Andrew and wife, Silvana Dudas of Waterbury, Connecticut and Brad and wife, Lynn Dudas of Redding, Connecticut; and fondly remembered by her adoring great grandchildren, Natalie, Calista and Drew Dudas of Connecticut.

Arlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Allan; grandson, Trent Dudas; and first husband, Willard Cowling.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 24, 2013, between 10 A.M., until 12 P.M., at the Poe United Methodist Church, 6712 Wadsworth Rd, Medina, Ohio. A funeral service will commence at Poe United Methodist Church starting at Noon on Monday, with the burial to follow at Poe cemetery.

Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made in her name to the Poe United Methodist Church or the Multiple Myeloma foundation.
