GUILFORD TWP. — Carol Davis is lucky. As the 57-year-old Lafayette Township resident was driving down state Route 57 Friday morning, a dead tree fell, shattering her windshield.
She escaped with only a few cuts on her arm.
“I guess I’m pretty lucky,” she said Friday afternoon. “Everybody told me to buy a lottery ticket today.”
Davis was treated by paramedics at the scene and did not need to go to the hospital.
“I’m a little sore now, but I’m fine,” she said. “I don’t have any problems. Just a little shaken up.”
Davis said about eight people stopped to help her and clean up some of the debris before police and paramedics arrived.
“I don’t know their names,” she said. “Thank you to all those wonderful people.”
The accident happened at about 9 a.m. in the 7800 block in the southbound lane of the road, according to Trooper Dan Kumor of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
He said half of the tree fell on the electric wires and the top half fell on Davis’ car, a 2001 Buick Regal.
