Linda L. Calta, 75, of Valley City, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 6, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born September 14, 1937 in Akron, to the late Charlie and Elizabeth Christian. She grew up in Seville and has resided in Valley City since 1960.
Linda was a past member of Liverpool PTA, Room Mother and Buckeye Football Moms, while her son was in school. Linda was a charter member of the Liverpool Township Historical Society, where she was past director and for many years was the curator for items placed in the museum. She was a member of the Medina County Convention Bureau and past director.
Linda was a former co-owner/operator of Kemp & Calta Antiques and she was a lifelong antique dealer. In 1971, Linda and her husband Gil founded the Hill Haven Farm and Greenhouse in Valley City, which has grown over the years.
Linda is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gilbert; son, Christopher (Dianne) of Valley City; grandsons, Derrek and Brad; brothers, Robert (Sharon) Christian of Columbia, South Carolina and Donald (Sandy) Christian of New Platz, New York.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 10 to 11 A.M. in the Gathering Area of St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road, Valley City. There will be a prayer service at 11 A.M., Tuesday with burial following in St. Martin Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, The family suggests memorials may be made either to Hospice of Medina County, Valley City Fire and Rescue, St. Martin of Tours Building Fund or Seville Methodist Church.
