Rev. Dr. Albert W. “Al” Dulyea-Parker, 82, of Bloomington, Illinois, passed away at 11:44 A.M., Sunday, July 7, 2013 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington Illinois. Al was born March 6, 1931 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the son of Frank Sherwood and Agnes Hallworth Parker. He married Teresa E. Dulyea on October 3, 1980 in Lansing, Michigan. Rev. Dr. Teresa Dulyea-Parker survives.
Rev. Dulyea-Parker served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He earned his doctorate in religion from the School of Theology in 1967 at Claremont, California. Rev. Dulyea-Parker served several congregations and taught Philosophy and Religion in California, Michigan, Indiana and Oregon, he retired in 1996. He was ordained a minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Al was a prolific writer, publishing many articles in several newspapers and a work of fiction.
Also surviving, are his six children, Jeffrey Dulyea-Parker of Bloomington, Illinois, Petty Officer 3rd Class Travis Dulyea-Parker, U.S. Navy of Japan, Cheryl, Daniel and Frank Parker, all of California, Joel Parker of Maine; one granddaughter, Jennifer Parker of Maine; one great grandson, Jacob Parker of Maine; and his sister-in-law, Ida Parker of Massachusetts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank Parker; and one sister, Janet Parker.
His celebration of life service will be 11 A.M., Friday, July 12, 2013 at First Christian Church, Bloomington, Illinois. Rev. Jim Warren will officiate. Private inurnment will be at a later date. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to The Christian Church in Illinois and Wisconsin All Saints Fund.
