Cancer patient’s neighbors to donate garage sale proceeds

MONTVILLE TWP. — Neighbors are pitching in to raise funds for one of their own in the Cobblestone Park development.

Katie Kalinowski, who lives at 4659 Riverrock Way, has joined other residents of her cul-de-sac to donate proceeds from the neighborhood’s annual garage sale to a neighbor who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Kalinowski’s friend, 36, was diagnosed with the cancer while on maternity leave. Her daughter is now 4 months old and she has a 3-year-old son.

“Her full-time salary is counted on by her family and she hasn’t been able to get back to work since having her daughter in March,” Kalinowski said. “She has numerous doctor appointments throughout the week and the copays alone are overwhelming.”

The yard sale will be 9 to 3 p.m. today through Saturday in the Cobblestone Park development, between state Route 162 and Poe Road. Other households in the neighborhood, apart from the Riverrock cul-de-sac, are pitching in with donations as well.

The group will have hot dogs and cookies for sale, along with a kids’ lemonade stand. Children’s items, books, furniture and appliances will be sold at the garage sale.
