Orrville man arrested after fleeing traffic stop

MONTVILLE TWP. — A 38-year-old Orrville man wanted in Wayne County for failing to appear in court on a drunken driving charge was arrested Friday evening after police said he fled a traffic stop.

Jimmy Freeze was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over at about 7:30 p.m. by Montville police for not having trailer lights at state Route 18 and Normandy Park Drive, just west of Interstate 71, according to police Sgt. Chris LaFond.

LaFond said the officer was doing a computer check when Freeze ran into the nearby woods.

The Ohio Highway Patrol, Medina County sheriff’s deputies and Medina Township police assisted in sealing off the area. A request was made to bring in a K-9 unit.

But before the dog arrived, Freeze came out of the woods and walked onto I-71, where he was arrested without incident by a patrol trooper, LaFond said.

Freeze was charged with obstructing official business and taken to the Medina County Jail.
