Weather brings crowd to art show in Medina

A statue of a winged lion, carved from wood, draws the rapt attention of 4-year-old Vivian Fergus, left, and her 7-year-old sister, Cora, both of Olmsted Falls. The lion is the work of Joe Leonard, one of more than 130 artists on display Sunday at the 40th Annual Art in the Park show and sale, held Sunday at Medina's Public Square. Woodcarver Joe Leonard holds a rose he created out of walnut, which won first-place in the non-functional fine art category in Sunday'€™s 40th Annual Art in the Park show and sale, in Medina'€™s Public Square. Born and raised in Liverpool Township, Leonard lives in Garrettsville, in Portage County. Among his works are 17 armored horses carved for the Euro-Disney carousel in Paris.
