William Henry Tomes, 79, of Sagamore Hills, and formerly of Lafayette, passed away at his home Tuesday, July 23, 2013. He was born in Cleveland, March 9, 1934, to William Harry and Lenore (Herwig) Tomes.
He grew up in Lafayette, where he later worked as a dairy farmer before moving to Sagamore Hills in 1965. There he worked as a carpenter for Case Western Reserve University and Carpenters Union Local #435 for 30 years, retiring in 1991. Mr. Tomes was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores (Lehman) Tomes; children, Jerry, Ed, Debbie, Tim, and Jody Tomes and Diane (Tomes) Galloway; grandchildren, Fay Ann and MaryAnn Tomes, Ashley (Galloway) Lattin, Amy, Tom, and Taylor Galloway; great grandchildren, Kayla, Emma, and Ava Galloway, and Preston Lattin; sisters, Lenore Emmons, Shirley Fedrick; brother, Lyle Tomes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Herbert Tomes.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 12 Noon, at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi (330-948-1122). Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Lodi. Visitation will be from 10 to Noon Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the funeral home.
