Dorothy J. Feron

Dorothy J. Feron, 86, passed away, Sunday, July 28, 2013 peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 22, 1927 in Elyria, to the late Louis and Lucille (Bennett) Reisinger.

Her family moved to Spencer in 1941 and were dairy farmers. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1945. Dorothy married William Feron October 16, 1948 and moved to Medina. They raised six children Timothy (deceased) Jane of Medina, Rita (William) Gorey-Smith of Bath, Sheila (John) Benson of Medina, Brian (Carole) of Medina, Michael of Medina and Patrick (Karen) of Pinehurst, North Carolina.

She and her husband operated Feron Realty for many years. She was also employed by Surgical Associates of Medina until retirement. Dorothy was very active in St. Francis Xavier Church, serving in the Ladies Guild, Resurrection Choir, Sacristan, Prayer Chain Coordinator, supporting many programs and events over the years. It was her spiritual and social center. She and her husband were very proud of their efforts in building the existing church with other volunteers in the parish community.

Dorothy served on the American Cancer Society board as secretary for many years. She was an active member of the Lafayette Fire Department Auxiliary and Lafayette Zoning Board. She was an active member of the Medina County Democratic party working on numerous campaigns including that of former Senator John Glenn.

She is also survived by brothers, Francis Reisinger, David (Brenda) Reisinger; sister, Alice Yunker; grandchildren, Amy (Brad) Nieman, Lauren Smith, Sarah (Michael) Ambrose, Janna (Matthew) Elkevizth, Kara Benson, Courtney Benson and Cody Feron; great grandchildren, Payton, Cade, and Coy Ambrose, Noah Nieman and Henry Elkevizth.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1982 and to whom she was married 34 years; son, Timothy who passed away in 2005; and a great grandson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 11 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina. Father Tony Sejba and Bishop A. J. Quinn will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina.
