Last week’s sobriety checkpoint in Medina Township netted one arrest for impaired driving.
The checkpoint was conducted for three hours Thursday night in the 3700 block of Pearl Road by officers from Medina Township, Brunswick, Hinckley Township, Montville Township, Medina, Wadsworth, Seville, the Ohio Highway Patrol and the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.
A total of 787 vehicles were checked. Eleven vehicles were diverted for driver’s license checks. In addition to the OVI arrest, one driver was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and one driver was cited for driving under suspension.
“Saturation patrols” in the neighborhood around the checkpoint made 77 traffic stops, which resulted in citations for a variety of offenses, including driving without a valid operator’s license, speeding and operating a motorcycle without a helmet.
