Herbert George Strahsburg, 85, of Medina, was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, July 27, 2013 in Brunswick. Herb was born in Cleveland January 30, 1928, to the late Paul and Emma (Siller) Strahsburg.
Herb served in the U.S. Air Force. Following his discharge Herb attended the Assembly of God Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and graduated in May 1952. He met Eunice Hardt in college and they were married May 23, 1952. While in college, Herb began his pastoral ministry at the Assembly of God Church in Dawson, Missouri, where he pastored for two years. His first pastorate with the Assemblies of God in Ohio was in Rock Creek. From there, the family moved to Jefferson, where they started a church and pastored it for 17 years. They were called to pastor the Assembly of God in Medina and were there for three years. At the time, God diversified their ministry and Herb went to work for UPS. After 12 years, he retired. Herb returned to school bus driving for the Medina School System for seven years and then retired again. Herb and Eunice attended the Chapel in Akron for about 23 years, following their ministry at the Assembly of God in Medina. They are current members of Hope Church in Brunswick.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Eunice (Hardt) Strahsburg; children, Paul Strahsburg, Debbie (Strahsburg) Perea; son-in-law, Robert Perea; grandchildren, Kristin, Sara and Jesse Perea; sisters, Ruth Binder and Eleanor Loos; brother-in-law, August Nikel; sister-in-law, Martha Strahsburg; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Emma Strahsburg; brother, Richard Strahsburg; and sister, Dorothy (Strahsburg) Nikel.
Services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 11 A.M. at Hope Church, 1905 Pearl Road, Brunswick. Pastor James Garber and Reverend Ron Dress will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will be at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted. Family will receive friends Wednesday, July 31, 2013, from 4 to 8 P.M., at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, and one hour prior to services on Thursday, at the church.
