Thomas V. Conway, Jr., 86, of Medina, passed away Friday, August 16, 2013.
Tom was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, New York and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Tom was a consulting professional engineer and worked in both the steel and forging industries. He was the founder and owner of The Furnace Group, Inc. His profession took him to many different countries and as a result, he became an enthusiastic world traveler. As an avid fly fisherman, he spent much of his retirement traveling between New Zealand, Ireland and the West Yellowstone area, pursuing his favorite hobby and making many friends.
He was the father of Thomas V. Conway, III (Joyce), grandfather of Kathleen, Brendan, Elizabeth and the late Kelly; brother of Helen Galea (John, deceased); uncle of Michelle Stover (Ed), Mark Galea (Nancy), Mary Ellen Salony (Jon), Monica Galea (Stan Crews) and Madeleine Galea.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary (nee Flynn); his dear aunts, Helen Frederick, Illeen Conway and Mary Conway; and his uncle, Francis Conway.
Funeral Mass to be celebrated Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 11 A.M. at St. Martin of Tours Church, 1800 Station Rd., Valley City (please meet at the church), where the family will receive friends at the Church from 10 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 A.M. Interment will follow at St. Martin of Tours Church Cemetery. Although flowers are appreciated, the family prefers memorial contributions be forwarded to Providence House, 2050 W. 32nd St., Cleveland, OH 44113. Providence House is a privately funded crisis nursery.
