MONTVILLE TWP. — A 92-year-old man was injured when his tractor rolled over Monday morning, trapping him underneath.
Montville Police Chief Terry Grice said Ted Chandler was working behind his barn on his full-size tractor at about 11:45 a.m. at 3673 E. Smith Road.
“He got on some unstable ground and the tractor rolled, pinning him underneath it,” Grice said.
Chandler was removed from under the tractor by Medina firefighters and flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland by emergency helicopter.
Grice said Chandler was conscious when he was taken to the hospital.
A hospital spokesman said a condition report was not available Monday afternoon.
In 2002, Ted and Willette Chandler, who was better known as Willy during her lifetime — she passed away in 2007 at age 87 — donated more than 100 acres of their farm to the Medina County Park District as a nature sanctuary.
