MEDINA — The former Henry Furnace factory, which has been vacant for about five years, will be auctioned today at 11 a.m.

John Weber, property manager for Canton-based Patriot Development, which owns the property, said efforts to sell the building failed.

The 135,000-square-foot building, at 563 Bronson St., was a foundry that manufactured cast-iron furnaces. The building was built in different stages over a number of years, Weber said.

“Much of it was built before 1940,” he said.

Patriot Development bought the building from York Heating and Air Conditioning in 1992 and rented out space in it for a number of years, Weber said.

The Medina County auditor valued the site’s 7.24 acres at $165,950 and the building at $440,820.

The auction will be 11 a.m. at Crowne Plaza Hotel, 7230 Engle Road, Middleburg Heights.
