ELYRIA — The family of a Liverpool Township man killed in a May 13, 2012, crash has sued the bar that reportedly served alcohol to the Columbia Station man accused of causing the fatal wreck in Lorain County.
The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Lorain County Common Pleas Court, alleges the Route 82 Grill & Saloon was negligent and reckless in serving alcohol to Kevin Runyon, who had a blood-alcohol level of 0.146 when tested after the crash, well above the legal driving limit of 0.08.
Runyon, 25, faces aggravated vehicular homicide and drunken driving charges for the crash that killed 37-year-old Curtis Porter III.
Runyon’s pickup collided with the back of Porter’s motorcycle on Route 82 in Eaton Township.
Ohio Highway Patrol troopers have said Runyon fled the scene, but returned a few moments later.
The lawsuit asks for more than $25,000 in damages.
