Iva L. Whitehead, 105, of Litchfield, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at Wooster Community Hospital. She was born January 4, 1908 in Accident, Maryland, to the late John and Anna (Shievel) Fratz. Iva was a resident of Litchfield since 1936.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Valley City, Litchfield -York Senior Citizens, Litchfield Grange, Litchfield Fire and Legion Auxiliaries and Litchfield Garden Club. She formerly owned and operated Whitehead’s General Store with her husband Roy for 30 years.
Iva is survived by her daughter, Frances (Philip) Giordano; son, Robert (Florine) Whitehead, both of Litchfield; grandchildren, David (Sharon) Archer, Larry (Nancy) Archer, Daniel (Lisa) Archer, Kristine (Shawn) Parker, Lori (Trent) Sturgill, Kimberly (Russell) Moskol, all of Litchfield and Jeffrey (Jasmine) Whitehead of Chicago; 29 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, to whom she was married 37 years; brothers, George of Florida, Roy of Florida and Carl Fratz of Litchfield; and her sister, Martina Baugh of Akron.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 1 P.M., at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Pastor Phillip McClelland will officiate. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
