Pot plant found in Pumpkin Ridge park
BRUNSWICK — A 5-foot-tall marijuana plant was removed from Pumpkin Ridge park after it was discovered by a city employee on Friday.
According to a Brunswick police report, an employee cutting the grass at the Grafton Road park around noon discovered the plant among tall weeds and plants along a fence at the western side of the park that faces the backyards on Marguerite Way.
The plant weighed 442 grams and was confiscated by police to be destroyed. Police questioned residents in the area who reported heavy pedestrian traffic in the park. Residents were advised to report any suspicious behavior in the park.

12:30 p.m. — 2800 block Grafton Road, a bronze grave marker reported stolen at Eastlawn Memory Gardens. The stolen marker was 24-by-14 inches and about ¾ inch thick.
Thursday, Aug. 29
11:21 p.m. — 3800 block Turnbridge Court, Joseph K. Pollock, 24, 3861 Keller Hanna Drive, charged with reckless operation and operating a vehicle impaired after police reported he crashed his pickup into the Cross Creek apartments sign. He provided police with a blood alcohol sample of 0.169 and had a previous OVI conviction in 2010.
Saturday, Aug. 31
1:05 a.m. — Grafton and Pearl roads, Richard M. Case, 24, 3667 Sleepy Hollow Road, Brunswick, served with a warrant for failure to appear issued by the Medina County Sheriff’s Office after he was pulled over for a traffic stop. He also was cited for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
7:13 a.m. — 700 block Pearl Road, a screen was damaged and window pried open in an attempted break-in at a local business. No items reported stolen.
Sunday, Sept. 1
8:28 p.m. — 1700 block Stoneybrook Lane, Nathan J. Vapenik, 24, Parma, charged with cruelty to animals after police reported he left two dogs in a vehicle. Vapenik was warned once by police about the animals in the car, reports said.
Monday, Sept. 2
10:20 p.m. — 1200 block Pearl Road, Aaron R. Thomas, 26, 4063 Monterey Drive, Medina, charged with OVI and speeding. Thomas refused a blood-alcohol test, but has prior OVI convictions from 2009 and 2010.

1:08 a.m. — 400 block 130th St., Feodor M. Prigodich, no age or address given, charged with OVI, an expired registration and failure to operate on the right side of the road.
Saturday, Aug. 24
4:10 a.m. — 2000 block Bellus Road, Shad W. Belanger, 36, 2036 Bellus Road, charged with OVI.
Sunday, Aug. 25
2:33 a.m. — Center and Fox roads, Thomas A. Garratt, 41, 345 Village Pointe Drive, Apt. B, Hinckley Township, charged with OVI and failure to use headlights.
