Dr. Joseph R. Kasa

Dr. Joseph R. Kasa, 85, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013at Hospice of Medina. He was born October 5, 1927 in Cleveland, to the late Ralph and Ruth (Turek) Kasa.

Joe served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and graduated from Case Western Reserve Dental School. Joe had dental practices in Hudson, Locust Dental Center of Akron and Lodi. His compassion for others compelled him to volunteer for Hospice and their Life’s Treasures Thrift Store, Project LEARN and the Free Farmer’s Market at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He was a member of Rotary, the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department and Squires.

Joe’s interests and hobbies included cooking, traveling, gardening, reading, woodworking and ham radio. He was a student and teacher of life, both through his love of books and his connection with others. Joe always taught wisdom and compassion by example.

He will be dearly missed by his beloved children, Lyn (Marc) Barshay, Barbara (Norm) Hanna, John (Judy) Kasa and Betsy (Brian) Vanderpool; his loving grandchildren, Justin, Briauna, Marcus, Ryan, Christopher, Katie and Benjamin; and a host of dear friends and co-workers whose lives he touched along the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Carol (Alger) Kasa in 2007.

A private family inurnment will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Columbarium. A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 1 P.M. at his Medina home.
