Meet-and-greet planned for Medina school board candidates

MEDINA — The public will have a chance to hear from candidates for the Medina school board during an informal meet-and-greet.

The event will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the lobby of the Medina Performing Arts Center, 851 Weymouth Road.

Debra Lynn-Schmitz, president of the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce, said the event will focus on the Medina school board candidates, but is open to all candidates running for office on the November ballot in Medina County.

She said the event would be an informal meet-and-greet where the candidates will be seated at tables and “people can walk up and ask them questions.”

The event will be hosted by the chamber in cooperation with Kids First Medina, the school levy campaign group.

On the Nov. 5 ballot for Medina school board, seven people are running for three open seats. Incumbents Tom Cahalan and Doug Adamczyk, both appointed earlier this year to fill board vacancies, are running, along with five others: Eric Carpenter, Angie Kovacs, Bryon Macron, Ron Ross and Robert Skidmore.

Lynn-Schmitz she didn’t have a complete list of which candidates would be attending, but said all were invited. She said Medina City Council Ward 1 candidates Brian Hilberg and Jay Smith would be there. Hilberg was appointed to the seat in 2012.

The event is free and open to anyone to attend.

Hurray! Medina voters can meet and greet those degenerate Incumbents Tom Cahalan and Doug Adamczyk , who unanimously voted for $1203 per lease of crappy Apple mac-books and for floor-resurfacing project with immediate $50K cost overrun. Them, along with board President Karla Robinson and board members Bill Grenfell and Susan Vlcek constitute a very vivid collection of the people who should never been elected for anything. nNow public can go and see face-to-face those incumbents, listen to a whole lot of politically correct lies and false promises and elect the people, who will be screwing them for next term. Remember – its all for the children.

It’s just a shame that the board voted to approve the Apple lease purchase contract without ever seeing it since it was generated after it was approved. Only the proposal was attached to the board agenda.

Would love to know the whole story behind that rec center. If the school needed a pool, they should have put in a pool, not that Taj Mahal.

ThenMedina Chamber of Commerce u2013 Isnu2019t this the same group that came out with anposition paper that told us how well medina Schools were being run and howngreat they (School) were with managing money last year? They also make this anmeet and greet for all candidates but only invite Medina Board Members? If theynwanted to focus on Board Members why not ESC candidates and Buckeye Candidates.nPart of the City, (Ward 1) is Buckeye schools. Did we invite them? On questions of school fundingnand how to best run schools I would like to compare districts that seem to bendoing things correctly. Can the Gazettenactually do a County Forum? Just think the Chamber should stick to PR and letnthe debates be handled by hopefully an impartial media.

I’m not down on the Apple product – use them myself and believe in them. However, in this case where are the laptops and exactly how will they be used. Our kids who are students at the High School don’t know a thing about them. When we talked about computers at schools they think its a joke as they say their teachers never mention them or use them for anything in class room. WHY DID THE DISTRICT SPEND THIS MONEY. As a taxpayer I would like to know exactly where the computers are, how they are being used, and how a student gets access to one!
