Brunswick police log for Sept. 12

Man who barricaded self in room arrested

A Brunswick man was charged with domestic violence, resisting arrest and trespassing after he barricaded himself in a bathroom Sunday morning.

According to a Brunswick police report, Jared J. Peronek, 20, of 1190 Queens Ave., was charged with domestic violence.

Police were dispatched to the Queens Avenue home three separate times before making the arrest, the report said.

The first call came in about 4 a.m. After police arrived, a victim, who didn’t want to pursue charges, told police Peronek had fled. Officers were sent back to the home at 4:18 a.m. and the victim said Peronek had returned and fled on foot.

Officers attempted to find Peronek and advised the victim, who still did not want to pursue charges, to lock the door.

At 5:14 a.m., police again were called to the house, and this time the victim wanted to file charges and told police there was another victim, who no longer was at the house.

The first victim told police Peronek was in an upstairs room of the house.

Officers entered the home with a K-9 unit and a barricade shield and removed Peronek from the room by force. When Peronek grabbed at an officer trying to arrest him, the K-9 unit was released and bit Peronek’s arm until Peronek was placed into handcuffs.

Peronek was transported to Southwest General Medical Center for treatment for a bite wound.

The report also said that Peronek suffered a head injury while scaling a fence in one of his two attempts to flee officers.
