Fran received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from D’youville College in Buffalo, New York. Most of her nursing career as a surgical nurse was at Southwest General Hospital. She was a communicant for St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, where she was a renewal sister and led youth religion classes. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, not only to her four children, but to many others. She loved to provide home cooked meals, primarily Italian for her family and friends. Fran was known for her sincerity and compassion creating lifetime friendships. She had a special gift of making everyone feel like family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fernando (Fred) Silvestri of 22 years in 1998; and her father and mother, Eugene and Mary Louise.
She is survived by her children, Sheila Silvestri-Guk (Sebastian), Antonio, Adam of Brunswick and Julia of Macedonia; and sister, Karen (Robert) Rahn of Massachusetts; she will be sadly missed by her fiance, Daniel Long.
Family will receive friends Friday, September 20, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10 A.M. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick, with visitation one hour prior to service. Father Bob Stec will officiate. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Valley City.
