Audrey Friedman Lutz passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2013, 11:05 P.M., at Medina Hospital. She was surrounded by her beloved family: children, Lisa Hoffman, Michael Lutz, and Amy Lutz; daughter-in-law, Christina Lutz; grandchildren, Brittany, Paige and Robbie.
Audrey was born on July 22, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, to Isadore and Gussie Friedman, and had two sisters, Rosalind and Shirley.
Audrey’s life took her from New York to Maryland to her final years in Ohio, where she enjoyed the Nottingham community in Medina. She made friends, got involved in raising money for the community’s activities, and volunteered at Medina Hospital. Before then, Audrey led a varied work life, culminating in an international development career. During this time, she traveled to countries like India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, awakening a deep love of elephants and travel.
Audrey’s deepest pride was her family, and she spoke with profound pride and love of them. Her other passions included her cats, Trixie and Smudge, reading, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, crocheting and cooking. People were very important to Audrey, and she was able to connect with warmth and caring to those around her. Special friends, who helped her so much during her final time were: Jenni Shubert, Gladys Heffinger, Gloria Fowls, Cindy Brown, and Lynn DeSalvo. Audrey’s family is grateful to all who loved and helped her.
During Audrey’s final years, several organizations helped her tremendously, and donations are welcome and deeply appreciated by the family: Medina Hospital at medinahospitalfoundation.org/page/show/Online_Donations; Faith in Action at fiamedina.org/dynamic/donation or Hospice of Medina County at http://www.hospiceofmedina.org/donate-to-hmc
