Tough day on courts for Bees, Devils

It was a bit of a rough day Friday for the Medina girls tennis team at the Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division Tournament.
It didn’t go any better for Brunswick at the NOC River Division Tournament.
After finishing fifth in the six-team Valley with a 1-4 record during the regular season, the Bees also finished fifth at the tournament to take fifth overall. Solon won regular-season, tournament and overall titles.
Brunswick went 0-5 in the regular season to finish sixth in the River and also was sixth at the tournament, leaving it last in the final standings in the six-team division.
Medina’s highest placer was freshman third singles player Emily Speckman, who took third. First singles player Emma Deimling was fourth and second singles player Brooke Ott was fifth.
The Bees’ first doubles team of Becca Arnold and Avery Major was fifth, as was the No. 2 doubles tandem of Becca Liebler and Ellen Greene.
Brunswick’s highest placer in the River Division event was first singles player Haley Yuhas, who took fifth.
Second singles player Danielle Leiken, who filled in for Maria Santiago, and third singles player Traci Spaeth were sixth.
