Fred T. Workman, 79, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013. He was born September 10, 1934 in Moundsville, West Virginia, to William and Nellie (Dudley) Workman. He was a resident of Creston since 1991, but spent most of his life in Wadsworth.
Fred was retired from GTE (Verizon) phone company, and enjoyed woodworking. He served three years with the U.S. Army Rangers in the Korean Conflict, where he received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He then went on to serve an additional 10 years with the U.S. Air Force.
Fred was a member of the Wadsworth Eagles #2117, Wadsworth American Legion Post #170, and Medina County D.A.V.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 50 years, Barbara “Jean” in May of 2013; brothers, Charles and Clarence “Dutch” Workman; and sister, Phyllis “Cookie” Lightner.
Fred is survived by his sons, Fred and Chris (Judy) Workman of Creston; grandchildren, Abigail and Jacob Workman.
A private family service will be held at a later date with inurnment at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made on behalf of the family to the funeral home.
