Dan L. Meager

Dan L. Meager, 89, of Wadsworth, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013. He was born February 25, 1924 in Wadsworth, to the late Sylvester and Leah Meager.

Mr. Meager was a WWII Army veteran having served as a Sergeant in the 512 Bomber Squadron. He was involved in the Air Offensive in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and England. After his military service he was a member of Operating Engineers Local #18 for over 59 years and retired from Stein Corporation of Cleveland after 43 years of service at the age of 78.

Dan was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce Meager and Albert “Bud” Meager.

He is survived by his wife, Jahala, with whom he would have celebrated 40 years of marriage in February 2014; he is also survived by three children, Kenneth (Barbara) Meager of Texas, Judy Mata and Debra Meager, both of Wadsworth; three step children, Steve (Nancy) Wiles of Burbank, Stanley (Kimberly) Wiles and Joanie (David) Anderson, all of Wadsworth; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Donna (Marvin II) Meager Hardy of Hudson, Emily Jane Schaumberg of Florida and Barbara Calvin of South Carolina.

Funeral Services were held Friday, September 6, 2013 at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home. Interment with military honors was in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
