Virginia “Ginny” Harris, 91, of Chippewa Lake, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in her home. Ginny was born in Cleveland and made her home in Chippewa Lake the past 67 years.
Virginia was a graduate of Kent State University, taught at the Medina County Achievement Center for 25 years. She was a member of Church at the Lake United Methodist, very active in church activities, Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader, United Methodist Women, Director of Camp Paradise for many years, coach for Special Olympics.
She is survived by her daughter, Dee Dee (Richard) Duecker; son, Gary (Chris) Harris, both of Chippewa Lake; grandchildren, Pam (Duecker) Saffle, Connie (Duecker) LaSchiavo, Bob (Mindy) Duecker, Jeff (Jen) Schmitt, Justin (Amy) Harris, Jill Harris, Stephen Harris, Sam (Heather) Schmitt, Tracy Schmitt, Endy Schmitt and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Harris; son, Rick Schmitt; grandsons, David Schmitt and Michael Harris.
Family will receive friends Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 1 to 4 P.M. at the Church at the Lake United Methodist Church will a celebration of life following visitation. Rev. Pamela J. Sayre and Capt. Chad Grubb officiating. Internment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 10:45 A.M.
