Medina firefighters climb a ladder Wednesday night to reach the roof of SFS intec on Portside Drive in Sharon Township.

Township Fire Chief Mike Stanec said a fire broke out about 6:30 p.m. in a large machine inside the plant, which manufactures cold-formed metal parts for the auto and construction industries.

The fire was contained to the machine and was under control by 7:30 p.m.

“They just had a hard time putting the fire out because the machine is surrounded in an oil bath,” he said.

Besides Sharon, crews from Medina and Granger townships responded to the fire, along with city crews from Medina and Wadsworth.
