Purses stolen from vehicles

BRUNSWICK—Three purses were stolen from cars in business parking lots in three separate locations along Pearl Road Tuesday afternoon. According to police reports, car windows were broken in each case and the purses were removed. All the thefts were reported between 5 and 6 p.m.The first report was taken at 5:10 p.m. at a lot in the 1800 block of Pearl Road. The second report came in at 5:15 p.m. from the 200 block of Pearl. At 5:52 p.m., a third call came from a motorist in the 1100 block of Pearl.Brunswick police spokesman Nick Solar advised residents to be careful to not leave important belongings in their cars.“Even if you’re going somewhere and you’re running in really quick and you don’t want to bring your purse, don’t assume people aren’t watching you in the parking lot,” Solar said. “If you’re going somewhere fast, just leave the purse at home and take your wallet with you.”Solar said thieves some times stake out places where people plan to only be a few moments, hoping they’ll leave their purse behind.“We’ve even seen funeral homes be a target area, because it’s somewhere people only go in for 10 or 15 minutes to pay their respects and then head out,” he said. “Just don’t assume no one’s looking.”
