Arthur Stanley “Art” Robey, Jr., 81, of Kinston, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Art was born October 17, 1932 in Lumberport, West Virginia to the late Arthur Stanley Robey and Audrey Odell Robey.
He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Art enjoyed a 30 year career as a long distance truck driver and later farmed. Following retirement, Art and Nancy made many memories and friendships during their 11 years of travel by recreational vehicle. A people person by nature, Art never met a stranger and easily made friends wherever he happened to be. He enjoyed spinning a good story and was quite the jokester. Art was also an avid hunter and enjoyed woodworking.
Art is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Nancy Criss Robey; three children, Jeffrey Robey and wife, Linda of DeLand, Florida, Deborah Robey of Elyria, and Gregory Robey and wife, Lynne of Litchfield; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013, at 11 A.M., from Rouse Funeral Home, 108 N. Caswell St., La Grange, North Carolina. The family will receive friends Saturday, following the memorial service.
