Harvey V. Funk, 85, of Chatham, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013. He was born March 15, 1928 in Harrisville Township, to Cyrus O. Funk and Ruby V. (Horner) Funk.
Harvey was employed as a mechanical draftsman at NASA in Cleveland, from 1947 to 1978 having worked on numerous projects including the nation’s 1969 moon landing. After retiring from NASA, Harvey became part owner in a small company that manufactured surveyor stakes. He was a member of New Horizons Lutheran Church in Homerville. He enjoyed his family, playing guitar, listening to Chet Atkins and gardening. Harvey also enjoyed painting oil based paintings, watercolors and drawings.
Harvey is survived by his children, Robert (Linda) Funk of Littlestown, Pennsylvania, Richard (Kay) Funk of Streetsboro, Ohio and Susan (Lynn Roberts) Funk of Chatham; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Evalyn Funk (nee Wessolek); his parents; sisters, Ruby Dangelo and Rosalie Swade.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 11 A.M. at New Horizons Lutheran Church, 8439 River Corners Rd., Homerville, OH 44235. Rev. Dr. Deborah Michaels will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, (330) 948-1122.
