Mildred A. Benner, 92, of Medina, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 with her loving husband of 68 years and her family by her side. She was born February 10, 1921 in Custer, Michigan, to the late Hylmer Smedberg and Ann Connely. Mildred found an end to her suffering after a 30 year battle with Leukemia.
She retired from Medina Hospital after 26 years, where she worked as a nurse and was especially proud of her service to our country as a nurse in the Army.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Kenneth; sons, Robert, Leonard (Rebekah), Thomas (Sheila) and Kenneth (Judy) Benner; daughter, Dorothy Ann (Felix) DeAnglis; grandchildren, Jacob, Cecilia and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Emily, John, Alicia and Olivia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Shawn; and her siblings, Leonard and Ruth.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 A.M., Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina. Fr. Thomas Stock will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M., Monday, October 28, 2013 at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina.
