I am a Vietnam veteran. Only 11% of Americans are veterans yet 100% of govt. employees and banks will have a day that is called Veteran’s Day off with pay. Yes I understand that their are veterans in the public sector and banks but there is more, much more in the private sector to which they and I will work. Somehow this idea seems backwards. As such my solution to this backward idea is that those who get the day off do so with no pay. And the pay that would have been received be given to those charities that help homeless and disabled vets. This then would correct this backward idea. Give to those who served the recognition not the 89% that didn’t.
