William Albert Confer, 89, resident of Medina for 37 years, passed away at his home with his loving wife by his side Wednesday, November 6, 2013. He was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on June 25, 1924, to William and Charlotte (nee McDade) Confer.
William and Claudette (nee Brown) were married October 31, 1968 celebrating 45 years together. Lieutenant William Albert Confer served with the United States Navy actively for 26 years and four years reserve. He was a WWII and Korean Veteran, receiving National Defense Star, Presidential Unit Citation (Bronze Star). After his career with the Navy he was employed with Travelers Insurance as Regional Manager of Engineering.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Claudette; children, Catherine (Keith) Kimble, John Confer, Larry (Debbie) Confer and Richard Confer; grandchildren, Sean Breaux, Lauren (Chad) Kennedy, Camerin Kimble, Shayna Hunter, Helaina Hunter, David (Dana) Confer, Briana Confer, Cherayln Confer, Richard Confer; six great grandchildren; and brother, Robert G. (Jean) Confer of Colonia, New Jersey.
William was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sara Eleanor McGinnis, Charlotte Jean Thompson; and brother, James Douglas Confer.
No Visitation will be held. Interment of Cremains will be at a later date in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman.
