Marble “Buck” Bates

Marble “Buck” Bates, 67, of Lodi, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013. He was born July 1, 1946, in Whitesburg, Kentucky.

Buck moved with his family to Columbia Station, in 1961 and lived in Medina County for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era.

Buck retired as an operating engineer with Local#18, Cleveland. He enjoyed showing and hunting with his registered walker coonhounds. Buck was an individual that would help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of him touching their lives.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Holly; children, Wendy Marshall of Seville and Marc of Lodi; grandchildren, Miranda Scrivens, Madeline and Ava Marshall; sister, Pat Young, Brunswick; brothers, Ray Bates (Clara) of Lodi and Terry Lockler of Wadsworth.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Wright Lockler and father, Addinell Lockler; sister, Sandra Lockler Napier; and brother-in-law, Dennis Young

Family will receive friends Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 5 until 8 P.M., with the Service to start at 7 P.M., at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. Casual dress please…it’s what Buck would want.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
