Lawrence A. “Bub” Weigel, 93, of Grafton, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013. Bub was born in Valley City on May 9, 1920, to the late Albert and Ella Weigel. He was a longtime resident of Grafton Township.
Bub had been a lifelong dairy and grain farmer. He was a lifetime member of St. Martin of Tours. He was a member of the Lorain County Farm Bureau, LaGrange Engine Club and a former member of the Grafton Township Fire Department.
In his retirement, Bub enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing cards, square dancing, taking his steam engine to shows, driving his Model “T” and driving his golf cart around on the farm.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marian (nee Mennell); children, Linda Weigel of Grafton, Albert (Lynn) of Grafton, James of Grafton, Joyce Walko of Wellington and Jerry (Deborah) of Grafton; 10 grandchildren; and his sister, Marjorie Kline of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Weinbroer McCallister.
Funeral Mass will be 10 A.M., Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road, Valley City, (family and friends are asked to meet at the church.) Rev. Thomas Dunphy will officiate. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 P.M., Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery, Valley City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Martin Building Fund; Grafton Township Fire & Rescue Dept. or Hospice of Medina County.
